without being snuffed in the womb
Torn
even before she learns to breathe..or live..
to be an infant ..loved and protected
to be a child...happy and playful
to be a girl...safe and secure
to be a woman ...awake and alive
clothes that let her be
work that lets her smile
to step out in the world...secure in her city ..
her space..her skin..
sure that her skin will not be torn from her...
brutally bloodied vilely violated
with it...her soul..torn..
wonder then forever would it not have been better
not ever to have been born.
